Oram hasn't been successful in T20Is but at least he's a useful lower-order batsman, is used to these conditions and has bowled well in Sri Lanka recently. Guys like Ellis shouldn't be close to the team.

Oram has bowled well in Sri Lanka recently? I must of been watching a different world cup.

The Waterpolo tournament: AKA New Zealand Tour of Sri Lanka
One of the worst times to have a tour in SL. The whole country is getting heavy rains in November. "Neelam" cyclone has made it worse, with rainfalls getting up to 500mm in last two days.
T20 already washed off. 5 ODIs and two tests to be washed off.
