Was there a post mortem/enquiry following England's whitewash to Pak?

Here's a thought, did India have a post-ortem after their double whitewashes or no?
Frankly, in 2011 we had just reached the pinnacle of the sport in winning the World Cup for a second time, something that England have never managed to do despite reaching 3 finals. The work and training and preparation that went into winning that world cup all culminated in an amazing performance in the final v Sri Lanka.

When you have been number 1 in the world for 2 years won a World Cup achieved everything there is to achieve in the sport, and add that that when your captain has gone on to captain his team to IPL victory just a few weeks later, it is very hard to stay motivated for any other cricket on the horizon hence we had a very flat performance in England.

For that reason we cannot really call this a revenge series as we brought that performance on ourselves. There is no doubt that the BCCI would have given our players a talking to and would have told them that we have to maintain the standards we have set for ourselves as being a world number 1 team and the world champions.

This rang true in the ODI series when England came over last winter and we gave them a drubbing 5-0 when many English pundits like David Lloyd were predicting the same result to England given that in theory they had the momentum between the two sides but we pretty much showed there that when motivated there is not much anyone can do about it to be quite honest.

Given what happened last year in England frankly the whole team and the country are behind India to give England an absolute whipping in this series.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised Dhoni played on after captaining his side to IPL glory. That's the pinnacle of the sport, only way is down from there.

So when India win it's because they're awesome, but when they lose it's because they just didn't really care enough. Glad we got that sorted.

off topic - India A has just posted a higher total than the highest India managed on their entire tour of England

It is all about priorities, winning a World Cup is the pinnacle of the sport having achieved that it is very hard to be motivated short term because you have achieved the biggest prize in the sport of your profession so any other Cricket right after would almost seem insignificant after the magnitude of winning the World Cup.

Given that England have never won a World Cup or reached a final since 1992 this is not a problem that England have had to deal with although having said that after winning the Ashes in 2005 which is essentially a bi lateral series the team were all awarded honours by the queen including Paul Collingwood who scored a grand total of 17 runs in the series.

Despite all that euphoria at winning a bilateral series England were promptly hammered 2-0 in Pakistan just a few months later.

Are you a parody or are these are your legitimate views?

So when India become number 1 in the world and then get hammered, it doesn't matter because they'd reached the pinnacle of the game? But when England become number 1 in the world and then get hammered, it should require a post mortem enquiry?

Bois I'm pretty sure it's Jono airing his legitimate opinions on the game of cricket. Just doesn't have the balls to say it under his normal username.

As I said earlier, if you win the biggest prize in any sport it is only natural that the events that follow in the near future will have the feeling of “after the lord mayors show” the great West Indies team of the 1970’s and 1980’s won the World Cup in 1975 and 1979, yet in 1975 after winning the tournament, they got tonked 5-1 in a test series in Australia.
At the end of the day, people today remember and talk about the West Indies winning the World Cup in 75 and 79 not a bilateral series that they lost having just won the biggest tournament in Cricket.

The World Cup is certainly the biggest prize in ODI cricket, though I (and many others) still consider Test success to mean a lot more.

However, even allowing for that the comparison with 1975 isn't really valid - the World Cup (and limited overs cricket generally) wasn't nearly as big back then as it is today and historically the Test series' which followed - not only in Australia in 75/76 but also India's visit to WI and the WI tour of England in '76 - were far more significant both in determining cricket's world order of the time, and in the building of the all-conquering West Indian empire.
