LAW 18.3 - Short runs

(a) A run is short if a batsman fails to make good his ground in turning for a further run.
(b) Although a short run shortens the succeeding one, the latter if completed shall not be regarded as short. A striker setting off for his first run from in front of his popping crease may do so also without penalty.

They ran back for two, so it should've counted for one. Terrible umpiring.

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Words cannot express my joy

Dick move from Sammy and co. at the end there, lost quite a bit of respect, but good win at the end.

Amazing feeling. Amazing win. So proud

Nasiir had hit the ball with 1 to win, it want past the infield, and he and Sunny went off celebrating.

But then someone fetched the ball and said it didn't go for a four, and Sunny and Nasir didn't cross properly, and so the run didn't count. Sammy, Gayle and a few others argued with the umps, so saw a replay, and decided that indeed no run was scored, and so the next ball had to be boweld

BD needed 1 run to win in 39 balls when the shot was hit, with 2 wickets in hand. It was easily a single, even two, Gazi almost reached the crease before he just turned around and went and joined the celebration.

Everyone was running around celebrating and then Sammy and co, went and ruined the mood to argue that the run shouldn't count and got them to not count the run and make them bowl one more ball.

It was pointless and needless and in bad spirit. No point whatsoever to do it. They spent more time arguing for the run to not be counted than it took the ball right after that to be bowled, which promptly got hit for 4, and made no difference.

Just being an annoying buzzkill. Bad taste. Dick move.

Sorry dude but if they didn't score the run as a captain you are within your rights to fight to the end. They only needed two wickets so they could have come back. From the sounds of things you should blame the umpires if anything.

Academic now though

Bangaz Finally pushing Mahmudullah up. Result.
Nasir should bat down the order where he's good at. Mahmudullah should come at 3 or at worst 4. When Shakib's back:

Definitely within your rights, but in very poor taste and spirit. It's not like that run was the biggest factor in deciding the result of the game, so much so you had to get in cancelled. Top order failed, support bowlers failed, sloppy fielding, all lead to WI's loss. BD were the better team on the day. Should have just let them have their run and have their moment. Dick move to make them do it again. As if there was actually a realistic chance for them to win if that one run was cancelled.

I agree with you on most of this post but I don't agree with just 'letting them have their run'. Thats rubbish, you fight to the end no matter what. I like to see a desire to win no matter the circumstances from a side.

Agree to disagree then. I personally find such behaviour childish and as bad sportsmanship.

If there was a realistic chance of reversing the result by having that run cancelled (like if it happened in the last over of the match, or with 1 wicket left and 2 absolute tailenders on strike), then I'd understand. But not in this case.
