I remember that. And the Asia Cup final.

They just sucked at the ODI and T20 WCs. And generally poor at tests.

But they're becoming brilliant at home ODIs. I'm liking this a lot.

NZ series was mostly Shakib-awesomeness + some real crap cricket tbh - and they were all close games bar one IIRC.

But this is really awesome cricket from Bangers + piss poor cricket from WI. Has improved massively since Asia cup and add Anamul (WAFG) and Mominul and they have a gun team, IMHO.

And shouldn't do shabby in tests either once they get rid of Nafees, Nazimudin et al. and get Anamul/Mominul in (at home, at least).

They need more 4 day cricket, really. That's it. The batsmen need more opportunities to learn how to bat for long periods of time, and the bowlers need to get used to bowling to a disciplined plan and earning wickets on flat tracks.

Once they get that worked out, they will be good.

Razzak, Gazi, Mahmadullah, Naeem, Nasir...what a spin quintet.

Add to that Shakib who isn't playing, and guys like Sunny and Haq on the wings...very impressive. Death by slow annoying canny tweakers.

Been supporting the Deshis for as long as I can remember.

4 wins in their last 6 ODIs. SL, India, and 2 against WI. 2 losses to Pak, one of which was by just 1 run.

Loving how much more confident and assured they are. Hope they can keep this up.

They just need more 4 day cricket. Domestically, and even with the A Team. Maybe get other A Teams to tour them.

One problem BD has is that they lack big-hitting firepower to capitalise on such good starts. They don't have anyone who can come in and go for the big hits and clear the fence regularly, a power hitter like Pollard, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Pathan, Perera, etc. A big powerful hitter. They need one of those. Ziaur Rahman is the closes they have to one. And Mortaza I guess.

India too lacks one nowadays. Dhoni and Yuvraj are not the hitters they are, anymore. And Pathan is nowhere near the team now.

Still have Sehwag at the top, and guys like Raina and Rohit can be super destructive when in the move.

As ***** mentioned Ziaur Rahman is the best option now but long term Sabbir Rahman could potentially fill this role. He isn't an out and out "power hitter/slogger" but rather some one who is naturally aggressive with proper shots. He would be a better option batting at 7 than Mahmadullah Riyad as Riyad takes time to get set. Sabbir can show intent right at the start of his innings. He can also bowl legspin and if he develops this then BD could possibly have a SLA, Offie and a leggie all in the same side, that would be a spin trio I'd like to see.
