Well it's disappointing to wake up to this result. Sounds like a great knock by Fap de Kock.

How did Lyon bowl? Figures look really tidy, but i guess it just shows finger spinners are the most mediocre type of cricketer. Glad I've never had any time for them.

Holy **** I hope only Pattinson is out.

Facing the prospect of one of Johnson and Hastings playing here...

Yeah hopefully it's just Starc in for Pattinson. If Siddle has to be rested I'd be happy enough with Hazelwood playing I guess even though I'd prefer for him to get a bit more consistent first. I certainly prefer it to Johnson/Hastings anyway...

Yeah but you know they're itching for some Johnson.

If you know what I'm saying.

As much as I love it as a spectator, only having 3 days between tests is ****ed scheduling, and people wonder why players and administrators don't see eye to eye.

The players will still be in recovery mode when they're expected to roll out for a match. Hardly any time for preparation.

I really hope it's not the case, but something tells me they might be considering batting him at 7 if Watson's not fit to bowl. Even if Siddle and Hilfenhaus were both injured/rested along with Pattinson you could still cover that with Starc+Johnson+Haze so I don't see the point in the extra squad member unless they're considering five bowlers. Hastings is really not much more than a big hitting lower order player though, so I really hope that's not the case.

Hastings at 7 v McLean at 7 could be some battle

**** me Hastings and Johnson? Really hope neither play. Johnson has been trash in the SS and Hastings doesn't have anything on at least 5 other domestic bowlers. Did anyone even have Hastings in the current pecking order thread? ffs

Could tolerate me some Haze, Starc, Hilfy, Siddle with Watson around to bowl with the old ball. Would be a bit harsh on Lyon though who bowled quite well this game.

Based on going through some possible combos, I assume Hastings is in there so we have a workhorse who runs in hard all day and Can Bat

So these are the options

Siddle dead

Watson
MJ
Starc
Hilf
Lyon

Siddle dead II

Watson
Starc
Hilf
Lyon
Haze

(MJ Can Bat)

Siddle dead, Lyon dropped

Watson
MJ
Starc
Hilf
Haze

Siddle dead, Watson dead, Clarke ok

Clarke
MJ
Starc
Hilf
Haze

Siddle dead, Watson dead, Hilf dead, Clarke ok

Clarke
Hastings
MJ
Starc
Haze

'Siddle dead, Watson dead, Hilf dead, Clarke ok' attack would be something else. I assume only Lyon is in line for being dropped.
