***Official*** South Africa in Australia 2012

#1 is tainted by the fact that it was Healy who was taking the piddle. This is a guy who's favourite analysis is to suggest mid off should come out immediately and go into a gap where a nick has just gone, or if a certain side is a few down or in trouble. Honestly, I've heard it 20 times. He knows zero about cricket tactically. He's actually innocently sycophantic - he is just cluelessly crazy about his country.

.
Healy mentioned a few times how South Australia chased down 500 against his Queensland team and how South Africa should declare a lot later.

Bit of a difference in bowling attacks do you think, Heals?

Cannot believe Australia are only paying $10 (and the draw $6). Will be over today.

Welllll, yeah a little. But then, the Aussie bats are far superior to Blewett/Hilditch/Nobes/Sleep, etc. And the QLD attack was very strong that day. Was on an AO road, though, so there's that.

I guess his point is that a record only exists because someone hasn't gone and broken it yet. Before the WI did it, no-one thought chasing 400+ in the 4th innings was very likely so if you can get to 400, maybe 450 or 500 is possible in the modern game given the right conditions. 600 seems somewhat less likely, though...

Anyone think Watto is going to play a blinder today?
If by 'play a blinder' you mean make a classy 40-50 and get out doing something stupid then yes, Watto is going to play a blinder.

But geez, if ever there was a good time to form a huge partnership with one of the openers and make a big ton (or double, or triple) it would be now.

Realistically if we are gonna with two of our top 6 need to score doubles, and with 2 days left on such a flat pitch it is a good chance for anybody to get one really.

Sure, but Clarke and Amla notwithstanding, they aren't that easy to get.

I'll start to get interested if we're one or two down at tea today. Otherwise it's a draw at best.

Just stopped by to post that, while an "asking rate" isn't really something commonly thought about in regards to test matches, Australia need to score at 3.29 runs per over in order to reach the remaining target of 592 runs before fifth day stumps (assuming we get exactly 90 overs of play on each day).

Expect Australia to get about 420 and be bowled out around lunch on day 5.

Clarke is in incredible form, Hussey has been in form.
Wade, Hasting, Johnson, Starc, Lyon is a strong tail.
Saffers only have 4 front line bowlers and no Kallis bowling so they will tire.

Warner 70
Cowan 20
Watson 5
Ponting 10
Clarke 120
Hussey 98
Wade 40
Hasting 15
Johnson 20
Starc 25
Lyon 10 no
