Do opposing teams still socialise with each other after games?

Or has professionalism, modernity and public displays of venom wiped that out of international cricket?

Genuinely curious, and hope this ignites a discussion.

Judging by their non stop mentions of each other on twitter, they most definitely do.

I'm not a fan of domestic T20 competitions, but the one thing they do is allow different players from different countries to bond as a team which may have resulted in some players socialising with their opposition after an international game. I would think it would be more of an individual thing though rather than a team gesture.

It would be an interesting exercise to find which cricketer plays with the most amount of team mates over a year.

The likes of Hodge, Mahmood, Afridi and A Morkel must play with an incredible amount of players.

Yes they do

The South Africans play the game hard and nobody more so than Brian McMillan. He could be an intimidating figure if you showed any sign of weakness. During our home Test series against South Africa after they were re-admitted to international cricket, McMillan and Peter Kirsten were involved in a run-out mix-up that left McMillan back at the end where he started.

I said: 'Looks like you don't fancy it very much, Depardieu (he resembles the French actor).' He replied: 'Listen, a lot of people go missing every day in South Africa and one more won't be noticed.' Later, he threatened to use me for bait when he went shark fishing.

I thought nothing of it all - until we went to South Africa. It was lunch in Johannesburg and we were just starting to tuck in when McMillan stormed in wielding the gun, which he had borrowed from a policeman outside, shouting: 'Right, I've had enough of you Australians.'

It was scary for a second or two, then we all laughed. We have shared a few beers and got to know him over the years. He is a character; the game needs them.

I' say there must still be some after match socialising. I think Strauss has talked about encouraging the England players to share a beer or 2 with the Aussies after games in the 2009 Ashes, just to show that those from down under were normal blokes who could be beaten.

if more people start writing books about it ..it will be a thing of past..what is that adage "what happens in XXXX stays in..."

Young blokes these days are too busy on their smartphones texting people who aren't in the room and updating Twatter. Of course they don't socialise. They probably appear in the same space occasionally though.

+1. Further it makes for funny viewing when Sreesanth gets applauded by Harbhajan singh after mouthing off after taking a Aus wicket playing in a test match, and gets slapped when probably does the same but in a T20 match.

Yes they do! I saw Virat and Yuvraj driving to the hotel Pakistani team stayed and they were sitting in lobby and sharing some jokes...
