Brilliant footage from the Awards dinner at the Coke Week and the last days play.

COKE WEEK WRAP - FINAL DAYS HIGHLIGHTS - YouTube

    SA SCHOOLS TEAM

Back Row - MIKE BECHET ,Greg Oldfield, Anrich Nortje, Jason Smith, WAYNE PARNELL, Craig Kirsten, Vasili Orros, Shaylen Pillay

Front Row - Daryn Dupavillon, Clyde Fortuin, Shaakir Abrahams, Ngazibini Sigwili, Wesley Coulentianos, Diego Rosier, SHAHEED KHAN

    SA COLTS TEAM

Forgetting the coaches on either side and Wayne Parnell at the back in the middle.

Back Row - Yaseen Valli (LHB & SLA spin), Kyle Simmonds (SLA spin , rhb), David Bedingham (rhb & captain), Kagiso Rabada (right-arm quick), Corbin Bosch (right-arm quick), Justin Dill (right-arm seam & rhb), Tian Koekemoer (lhb opening bat)

Front row - Kirwin Christoffels (LH opening bat), Hayes Van der Berg (RH top order bat, right-arm seam), Sohail Mahmoud (right-arm leg-spin), Mpheto Bidli (keeper), Jean Heunis (rhb)

I expect the majority of the squad for England to come from the above plus Solo Nqweni (if eligible), Murray Coetzee, Jan Frylinck and Lizaad Williams.

I would say Jurie Snyman, Dayyaan Galiem, Bradley Dial and a few others would also be chasing spots for the England tour. If not then the u19 WC next year in Feb 2014 in Dubai for sure.

Interesting 12-man squad chosen for NZL game starting tomorrow. None of the players in the franchise 13-14 man 4-day squads were considered.

I would have liked to have seen Chad Bowes, Thomas Kaber & Corne Dry in there though.

    SQUAD

Rassie Van der Dussen (North West)
    Matthew Kleinveldt (WP)
    Keegan Pietersen (Boland)
    Colin Ackermann (EP)
    Pite Van Biljon (FS)
    Uwe Birkenstock (Boland)
    Brad Barnes (WP) - keeper
    Shaun Liebisch (Easterns) - Spin
    Siya Simetu (WP) - Spin
    Travis Muller (WP)
    Petrus Jeftha (Boland)
    Gino Vries (FS)

Particularly interested to see how Van der Dussen, Pietersen, Ackermann, Simetu & Muller do.

Marcello Piedt doing very well in the 3-day stuff. Should get a call up to franchise cricket very soon.

Going to be tough with Parnell, Birch, Theron, Ntini, Walters, Gqamane and Nqweni (when he overcomes action problems) all ahead of him. The Warriors have good bowling depth if you include spinner Simon Harmer but its their batting that lets them down big time.

Cubs week starts tomorrow in Stellenbosch I think or day after tomorrow. 13-man squads with SA u19 squad v England picked at end of the week. The 6 franchise u19 teams all play one another. Some players not eligible for next u19 WC in Dubai in Feb 2014.

Pillay, Rosier, Coetzee, Subaryen,Williams, Frylinck, Moore & Nqweni are all still eligible for the England tour who were part of the last WC squad.

Former SA cricketers Tertius Bosch & Mark Rushmere have their sons involved. Corbin Bosch of the Titans and Andrew Rushmere of the Warriors.

Only really Leus Du Plooy of Affies, Northerns and Titans is the major omission but will play in the next cubs week in time for WC selection. 15 year old Murray Commins (son of former SA test bat John Commins) could get a look in as well if he has a good year as a late bolter for next u19 WC. You would think the majority of that squad will come from these squads.

He may get his debut tomorrow in the 4-day game v Titans. A few injuries (Parnell, Theron, Birch) has opened his way a bit.

The Chevrolet Warriors travel to Pretoria for their 7th Sunfoil 4 day Series match against the Nashua Titans starting on Thursday 3 January.
There are three changes to the team which sees the inclusion of SWD players Adrian McLaren and Marcello Piedt. Experienced batsman McLaren has just come off a double hundred and has 20 career hundreds behind him. Marecello Piedt has had an outstanding season with the ball and will bolster the bowling attack. Colin Ingram also returns to the team. Jon-Jon Smuts has struggled this season and has been left out as well.
Andrew Birch has a knee injury and is unavailable.

    The squad is as follows:
    Michael Price
    Davy Jacobs (Capt)
    Ashwell Prince
    Arno Jacobs
    Colin Ingram
    Simon Harmer
    Aya Gqamane
    Christiaan Jonker
    Basheer Walters
    Gurshwin Rabie
    Adrian McLaren
    Marcello Piedt
    Colin Ackermann

Also asked him on twitter whether Thomas Kaber ,the 20-year old chinaman bowler, is on their radar and he said he is and its a big season for him.

Picked up 5 wickets in the amateur win over Easterns for Northerns where seamers seemed to be favoured. Also took them over the line with the bat with a 20*. Hopefully we see him in the Titans line-up to be given an opportunity sooner rather then later.

He'll probably be there soon based on what's happening against the Warriors. TBF, Harmer and Gqamane look decent talents.

Lets hope so but they seem to back Shaun Von Berg and he was 12th man here. So you leave out Harris or Vd Merwe and they bring him in. I think Harris is past it and Von Berg is ok but I reckon Kaber has far more potential. I'm hoping he dominates amateur cricket and he gets a contract for next season at the Titans. Thats the message I seemed to pick up from Maynard saying its a big season for him.

5ft2 Gqamane showing off his batting skills for the first time at franchise level. Certainly looks a talent and Harmer will come into the season more as the pitches get lower and slower and turn more. Batted well today as well Harmer. Both certainly have ability but the Warriors could do with some young gun batsmen to come through but don't see it.

Savage impressing for the Dolphins as well. Along with Morris and Gqamane some decent all-rounders new on to the scene. Pretty excited about the future of South African cricket. Some really good talent domestically and currently at the Cubs Week as well.

This has always been an issue with the Warriors. They have an assembly line of fast bowlers and allrounders but they can't seem to produce a decent top order batsman.

Calvin Savage has been doing really well for the Dolphins. Developing with bat and ball. But it seems the batting allrounders like Kallis, Hall, McMillan are no longer being produced. These type of players were a staple of our teams and they give good balance to teams. the only one i see is David wiese. but i think we need alot more of these type of players.

Exactly. They have decent One-day batsmen in Davy Jacobs and Colin Ingram but they do seem to lack quality longer version batsman and for some time now.

Last proper 4-day side they would have had was with Mark Rushmere, Kepler Wessels & Dave Callaghan in the batting line-up.

But think about the number of players they lost to other provinces/international teams before that like Tony Greig, Graeme Pollock, Ken McEwan, Daryll Cullinan etc
