The question is why is Bell even playing? Whoever was responsible for his selection in this Test should lose his job. England have effectively gone into this match a man down, and have been doing so in all the overseas Tests in which Bell has played in the UAE and the S/C over the past 18 months.

With absolute certainty I predict Bell will play in the 1st test in New Zealand. Whether he should is open to debate, personally i'd have left him at home after he went on paternity leave.

Bit of a mad hatter selection, Root. Couldn't be less familiar conditions and situation. Maybe searching for a Faf

If Bell plays in NZ he'll probably get a graceful 200 against their quicks. Hopefully the selectors will realise they can't keep picking him as he can't perform against spin.

Quite like the early signs of Root's footworkoving back to the spinners. Nice drive just now too.

Heh. Root.

It's cause Morgan & Patel ****ing suck. Maybe lucky to get ahead of the red head but I think it's a very sound selection, and should have been done for the 2nd test.

Nah Bell is pretty good at tonking good bowlers at home if Cook and co. have already done all the work.

He and AB could make a club. /Burgey

If England's debutant makes a ton, will a tabloid run with an "India Rooted" headline?
