If it wasn't for Dharmasena Cook would still be on his first innings right now

Seriously this pitch is a disgrace. Its like they are actively trying to kill test cricket or something

Annoyed they don't seem to feel like bowling. What is there to lose now? It's not even as though they ought to rest the bowlers.

There's absolutely no ****ing way you drop Ashwin.

He hasn't been good for a tailender with the bat, he's been just short of excellent for a genuine batsman.

If Ashwin is dropped, It would be absolutely disgraceful.

then pick as a top 6. The only reason you keep him for his bowling is he is young and will improve with time.

If the axe were to be wielded and swung dramatically, I'd probably go for an XI that resembles this for India's next series:

Rahane
Chand (??)
Pujara
Badrinath
Kohli
Tendulkar
Saha/Kaul
Ashwin
Praveen (?)
Yadav
Ojha

All of the openers I am aware of have had dire, dire seasons so far, so blooding Chand may be the best of a bad bunch of options. Retaining Tendulkar for a few more games to give some experience to the XI. Plus he's basically undroppable on name alone.

Saha probably the classiest wicketkeeper to replace Dhoni, but Kaul's record and recent form with the bat are pretty impressive - can anyone shed some light on him?

Absolutely no idea where to go with the bowling attack. None of the top wickettakers have played any meaningful amount of cricket.

Then he needs to justify his place in the top 6 with the bat, and fill in as a all rounder.

You can't play him as one of 4 bowlers, if he keeps bowling like this.

Ashwin shouldn't be allowed to bowl with sunglasses. Only Swann seems able to pull off looking like a Sunday village league idiot yet bowl well.

if he fails to take wickets or bowl well in the 1st or the first two tests against australia, then he has to go back to ranji.

If he fails to take wickets/Is not the second/third best batsman in the side, then you could send him back to Ranji, following the same consistent dropping logic for every other youngster in the side too.

Tbf, with the ball he has only bullied West Indies and Newzealand so far and doesn't have a great FC record behind him either.

Maybe with the options behind him, dropping him will be harsh but one of Ojha and him, has to be replaced with a more attacking option for me.
