***Official*** England in India

Didn't think about it, but yeah this is the 2nd time Dhoni has put himself up the order in an important Indian match with a lot of pressure on him. Completely forgot he promoted himself in the WC final.

Dhoni averages 66 at 6 in 10 matches. Averages 32 at 7.
Don't think him batting at 7 has anything to do with his failures.

Won't stop Ravi Shastri from suggesting he should bat there from now on. Classic Shastri

So as soon as the ball loses some hardness the run rate drops a bit. Last 10 overs 25 runs. Crap pitch.
thats what i have noticed too.

there were very few ppl at the stadium this morning and by half way through last session it was almost full. amazing.

Criticism of his batting this series? Yes.

Criticism of his test career? No. Saying he should be dropped? Ridiculous.
Yep - even if he hadn't played this innings - dropping him was pretty much out of the question IMO.

Yeah the game turned when England took the new ball and India got quick runs. New ball pitch for runs. How lame.

Stupid curator/whoever told the curator to do this.

Probably got told to get a slow, low turner like the first test and overdid it. Unless it crumbles this is heading for the most boring draw ever. At least when you have a 600 plays 600 track you see some decent strokeplay.

Monty 41 overs and only 58 runs conceded. No bowler should be able to have figures like that on any pitch the way players strike the ball these days.

yeah in a way this is a worse pitch than a 550 v 650 one. there's little entertainment.

Not trying to be a **** here Jono but your posts in the last 20-30 minutes have been seriously weird for someone usually so level-headed.

You pretty much just straw manned everyone except CWB. You should've just ripped into him instead of "the haters" because all the other criticism of Kohli in this thread has related specifically to how he's been a disappointment in this series. Which he has. Doesn't mean he's a rubbish player or should be dropped or anything like that but both his numerical contribution and his methods of dismissal have been very disappointing this series up until this point, inexperienced or not. Most of the fingers were being pointed at the senior players and rightly so but criticism of Kohli's batting in this series on this forum was valid and you've acknowledged that as well.

It actually reminds me a bit of when members here rip into the non-existent BCCI fanboys on this board. I've been guilty of that too in the past when it comes to the DRS. You're putting **** on a group of imaginary people who were egging CWB on and gagging for Kohli blood.

Dhoni the batsman is (was) actually pretty bloody good. Awful technique but he's scored big against good attacks before. There was a period where he would have been good enough to bat in the top 6.

He's just been lazy and overburdened. The overburdened part is not an excuse. He should have realised when he was failing that he needed to spread some responsibility.
