***Official*** England in India

Interesting Jimmeh was putting right-handed.

I know Lara used to play golf with his right so it wouldn't affect his batting, but surprised Anderson is that serious about his.
It's possible his father or youth coach just came from the 'top hand dominant' school of thought and made him bat left handed. He's clearly a right handed individual, so he probably did a bit of golfing as a kid too and developed the distinction. Was probably more serious about his batting when he was first learning the respective games than he is now, too.

I love the bowling attack that is representing Haryana. In effect, England have had no real practise.
Indian bowling has been made to look as bad and worse over the last year and a half, albeit in foreign conditions. Don't be too surprised if we've just about managed to get them into decent form..it's not like we're going to be springing some great, unheralded brown bowling hope on them in the Tests.

Well we got Punter into some form and he had an appalling few years. But that was in Aus and our bowlers were poorer than usual.

This is an England lineup with no real class batsmen bar KP, playing in SC conditions and where we have plenty of experience.

The lineup of Haryana bar Mishra (who is not a regular himself) has players who are not even ranji regulars. So yes, our bowling lineup will fair much better. Naturally, England have also struggled to dismiss us cheaply. Again, they will face world class batsmen when the test matches start.

Reckon their getting more batting practice than the Indian line up that got skitled by Somerset (LOL Somerset) tbh.

You jelly?
Is that the game Raina blazed his way to a ton at run a ball?! Shows how easy it is and the best batsmen in the world didn't even fire!

What is the point of batting practice against such poor quality bowlers who have not even featured in ranji? May as well get Flower to bowl and Fletch even by your logic.

Apparently the Trott thread should be in this section even though Trott's slump has NOTHING to do with India in any shape or form

He's playing in the India series therefore a topic about him when its looking towars the upcoming series does belong here its not hard to understand.

England in India 2012-13 : Jonathan Trott is in a slump, by his standards | Cricket Features | India v England | ESPN Cricinfo

Thoughts? He may score some runs on flat pitches in India but overall I think he is someone who will average 45 max-that through cutting out all risks. A very one dimensional player, definitely can be a certainty in England's ranks, but how on earth is he playing ODI cricket with a SR of 74 in this era?!

It shows you how selfish he is and very limited too.
As opposed to Sehwag who just throws his wicket away... amiright? 8-)

ODIs in England have the ball doing a fair bit more than most other countries if he needs to accelerate he's more than capable of doing so but its a helluva lot easier for the team if they've got someone anchoring the innings i.e Trott.

Tbf India might as well get Fletcher to bowl for them he's probably better than most of the pacer they've turned out over the years.

It was so easy the world's best batsmen failed. It's obvious, surely?
Touche....

If Raina did it then my point is it can't have been that bad.
But how does the best batsmen in the world failing, heighten your point? Yes the pitches were flat, and the bowling average, but that's what makes the performance so hilarious.

He bats in a line up which plays 5 specialist bowlers and arguably only has 4 class batsmen who you would back to make a big score reasonably regularly. He does his role.

Perhaps unnoticed is that his strike rate is higher than both Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara's, yet he gets more stick than either of them for his slow scoring. I think people criticise him because he's not a boundary hitter, and thus gives the impression he isn't scoring quickly, while in actual fact he is.
