I was simply having a look at India's fast bowler's stats. I knew Zaheer is closing in on his 300th wicket, but I can't help but notice his average is a bit disappointing. Of all bowlers with that amount of wickets, only Harbhajan has a poorer average. And I actually rate the guy!
Sharma's stats are far worse. Makes me wonder where Paveen Kumar is. He was good in England! |

that is support, he's got plenty of players in the slips still, having a guy back for the odd bad ball is perfectly fine. And he's not the only captain who does it, of course everyone loves to pick on him so I'm not surprised by your comment.

it's not dumb when the new ball isn't doing anything, and isn't likely to do anything. I'd rather save the 4 than give a single at this stage, as the ball gets older it becomes slightly difficult to score, and that's when you don't mind the odd 4 because the ball will start to reverse, which gives you a chance.
