***Official*** England in India

Hayden's efforts in 2001 were amazing, considering the dominating bowling attack, and big turning pitches. He was more dominant too, really attacked the daylights out of the bowlers.
This is one the big myths that many Aussies still believe - that Hayden conquered an awesone spin attack in India.

Kumble did not play that entire series.
Harbhajan was the only decent spinner India had in that series and he pretty much took out Australia by himself.

On top of this, Srinath didn't play the last two tests.

Hayden played well but it's worth putting it in perspective.

Still a far better attack than the current one.

Wouldn't agree with far better.

India fielded Bahutule, Kulkarni, Zaheer and Harbhajan their attack in the third test.

Bahutule and Kulkarni were pretty ordinary spinners as was Sanghvi who played in the first test. I reckon Ashwin and Ojha were better than them.

The only decent spinners Hayden faced were Harbhajan and Raju - teh latter for one test only.

So if, at any point, the batsman is out of his ground and directly between you and the stumps, you throw the ball at him?

Only way they were going to get him, can't catch him so aim a throw at him and get him that way.

Brilliant stuff by the skipper. Now to see if Ding Dong can play a decent knock in Asia or not?

It looks like he's just happily shepherded the ball onto the stumps.

Why? Surely you don't have to leave it before you've even got in? And surely "not deliberately blocking it" isn't the same as "leaping out of the way"?

It's tough, isn't it? Because if he takes too much action in self-defence, then he gets in trouble for obstructing the field.

Thing I heard on the Sofa comes was a question of whether or not he was trying to avoid getting hit by the ball.
Does the law say anything about that? By my knowledge, there's no way you can argue that isn't out unless the appeal is withdrawn. It's incredibly unlucky, but so is a ball that decides to roll on a middle stump line and hits you on the foot.

Least he has 190 on the board when it happened and not 19.

So we now lead by 43 and they will think they are into the tail with Bell in. Game on.

Bumble said that if Cook had been in his ground but left it to avoid being hit by the ball, it would have been not out, but because he was never in his ground, he's out.
