Yeah, the direction in which he strolled down the wicket and the angle of his bat showed he wanted to go inside out, but he ended up having to reach for it.

I was just going to post that Compton does exactly what a Test Opener has to do, after the opponents have been bowled out for a below par score: hang in there, get the shine off, wait for opportunities, allow your in-form partner to score.

And then he goes for it! Just like that. Not exactly a short and wide delivery that gets the treatment it deserves.....

Called it during 1st test as well. Might improve over time once settled as a test player as he can do it as he showed last week in the 2nd innings. Just needs to find the right balance which only comes in time.

You can tell that Compton has had to reign himself in to get where is today - he used to be a much more aggressive player before moving to Somerset and racking up the runs. He has these sort of aggressive-looking trigger movements that result in a defensive shot when he's playing within himself.

I like Compton tbh. Has ticker and already seems to be improving. The opening stands you've been putting up have been decent, so there's no reason not to stick with him.

Meanwhile, Cook's range of strokeplay is fairly impressive now, given where it was, say, three years ago.

Indian bowlers are **** even in conditions they are familiar with.
No wonder that any decent batsman that faces them ends up scoring 100 after another.

-Zaheer is too old.
-Ishant is now a trundler.
-Ashwin is the most over-rated spinner right now who's only good for T20s

Compton is doing his job well for sure. Personally I don't think he'd do as well opening against good fast bowlers on different pitches. Seems quite suited to India though

Really don't remember the last time we were dominated two Tests running at home.Darker days ahead. It's going to be a bit embarrassing seeing the BCCI strut their stuff while the team representing them gets shellacked all over the world.

Ojha is surely a step down from the spinners they've discarded, Harbhajan included. He's just got one good innings in this series but been leagues behind Monty, Swanneh and any South African spinner. He's just been excused, because Ashwin is going through a horror series here, but really, discarding Mishra after one horror tour and Kartik due to age is now coming back to bite the selectors and the team, hard. A poor choice on a pitch that offers nothing for the bowlers.
