    Massive signing. Absolutely massive.

Not only does it give Surrey an overseas player, it gives them one of the best opening batsmen going and a fantastic captain.

Forget "one of"; he's the best, IMHO. Crucially he's also one of the best captains, particularly in the area so desperately needed at Surrey - leadership. Doesn't mind the occasional big hundred in English conditions, either...

Was rather hoping the circumstances in which Keeds picked up a second CC winners medal would be rather different tbh, but I doubt the bookies will give you a decent price on his failing to do so

What's more we'll have at least one specialist opener in the CC side next season, which never happened this year. Ended up opening with a bowling all-rounder and the reserve 'keeper.

Big singing for Surrey considering the year they've had. Smith nows how to deal with a crisis.

Well I'll guess they'll worry about that for about two games a season that it'll be applicable.

I do the fat jokes, fellas.

Seriously, great pick up for Surrey & the English domestic game.

    Kabir Ali to Lancs.

Interesting they let Shahzad go and get a similar, but older, fatter and more injury prone bowler instead.

Clearly too mean to keep Shahzad - surely Saj would have been a better bet?

Surrey sign Graeme Smith and Lanky sign Kabir Ali - says it all really

Where does dislike of Smith on English blogosphere come from?

Graeme Smith is the reason I missed much of the 2005 Ashes.
