    Should become more prominent. Would be less hot. And less like playing in pyjamas.

    Nah, was done for a whole season. The women did it for even longer IIRC. Diving was a real issue when they were playing in the shorts.

    I remember we used to have to play in shorts when there were buckles on the pads - especially painful when keeping wicket. Thankfully never had to play in a skirt.
