Tendulkar fits in only as opener. I don't think it's that much of a specialist position that he couldn't handle it.

Having both Warne and Murali gives so many options. Davidson is the perfect first change quick and offers good batting. Imran is criminally underrated and Marshall was possibly the best quick of all time.

I considered Miller to bat at 7 but Imran was better.

A bowling attack doesn't need 5 x Front-Line Bowlers IMO - unless the allrounder happens to be Keith Miller - and even then I still think that 6 x Specialist Batsman with iron-clad techniques are preferable.

In the perfect Platonic world the team should consist of.....

01. Specialist Opener
02. Specialist Opener
03. Specialist No.3
04. Batsman
05. Batsman
06. Batting Allrounder (or 'Perfect' Allrounder like Miller)
07. Wicketkeeping Allrounder (or Bowling Allrounder)
08. Bowling Allrounder (or Wicketkeeper)
09. Bowler
10. Bowler
11. Bowler

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Well any ATG team is being assembled to play the Martian XI. I tend to think that Bradman counts as two batsmen and taking 20 wickets is going to be harder than making runs. Having 5 front line bowlers is going to be relentless for the batsmen and will test all facets of the batting technique given enough variety.

Can't disagree at all. We all have slightly different ideas about what constitutes the 'perfectly' balanced team.

Plenty of quality batsman but not really a decade of quality bowlers or keepers. May have something to do with 20 over cricket?

Kohli’s effect on Indian cricket has been profound after Tendulkar’s retirement. Can’t really leave him out?

Has been an inferior test batsman to everyone in the top seven. Could maybe replace Younis because he retired mid-wayish through the decade.

Wow, Cook has played 97 games and Amla is the next highest on that list with 69.

Do England really play that much more cricket than the rest?

I suspect the difference wouldn't be that much if some Australian or Indian players from the '00s had played every game in that interval.
