    Wally Grout according to some players kept in the Brisbane games with a beer on the field nearby for a swig between balls. Obviously Marsh's record drinking is folklore, but drinking while playing deserves a mention

    It's a shame the famous story about Lord Hawke sending Bobby Peel off the pitch for taking a leak whilst inebriated isn't true else he'd be a dead cert

    That it was believable enough at the time to become myth still speaks volumes IMO.
