Requires a fair bit of conjecture but so do all these comparisons.

Indeed. All players bring something slightly different to the table. I've never really got the idea that you can't compare two different types of players; if anything the opposite is true and it'd be impossible to compare two players who were exactly the same...

You can rank players based on their importance to their teams, impact on the game, performance in their eras etc etc.
To just go... player d>>>>player e = player a>>>player b>>>player c doesn't make a heap of sense to me. |

Damn, seems like my World XI changes every week. Anyways
1. Hobbs 2. Sutcliffe 3. Bradman* 4. Pollock 5. Richards 6. Sobers 7. Gilchrist+ 8. Procter 9. Marshall 10. Barnes 11. McGrath Am trying different bowling combinations it seems, 1 through 7 are still the same, as are Marshall and McGrath. Since it seems Barnes was more an O'Reilly type of bowler, I'd rather have him than Warne/Murali. On Procter - from what I can tell, he was a better bowler than any of the great bowling all rounders, bar Hadlee, and very close to Imran, and was a better bat than all of them bar Miller.
