That's the thing that really irks me about this competition - anyone playing for two teams that qualifies seemingly always gets pushed to their IPL side. You would think that when the IPL sides already have the advantages of being able to play 4 imports, having 8-10 of them in their squad, having additional places et al, that they could concede the one or two guys who have commitments with home sides.

KKR, for example, has Morgan, Kallis, Shakib, RtD, Haddin, McCullum, Pattinson, Lee, Narine and de Lange on their books as overseas players. You would think they can allow the players who qualified in home teams to play for them.

As the story says, they thought taken the burden of captaincy will help him score more runs and focus on batting.

The real underlining issue is the fact they selected O'Keefe as captain over Steve Smith and Mosies, as they thought Smith would be out with the national team and Mosies was battling injuries. End of the day he was 4th preferred selection, well 7th if you include Clarke, Haddin and Hauritz who all captained previously, but we overlooked due to potential international commitments.

The whole international commitment issue is NSW biggest problem. You make plans for season based on potential international commitments and then half batsmen get dropped or over looked and half the quicks you thought would be available during the season get picked.

With a side like NSW you have to take it a game at a time, as the side might change so much from one game at a time. You can't really plan for the whole season, as the side changes too much. In some ways NSW is better not having the national players in the side when they have games off. Can't remember they last time we won a game with international players on a break. They are better of playing grade cricket, if they want match practice.
