Just another of these mainly pointless yet occasionally interesting polls of mine.

I assume there can only be one contender for the tag of best batsman ever , and his name is Bradman.

Who in you're opinion ranks second to Bradman in terms of batting ability.

I've actually gone for Barry Richards (despite the fact that my favourite to watch is Graeme Pollock).

Of the modern era, Tendulkar and Lara are (IMO) without rival, but I feel that Barry Richards was a wonderfully complete batsman.

I think that if it was 'cricketer' Sobers would win hands-down from that list, however.

I really haven't seen enough of the vast majority to cast a fair vote.

Would expect Tendulkar to win due to the demography of the likely voters.

If anyone says Gilchrist, I will be deleting the posts :)

Well looking at it from that perspective Eddie is probably the only one fit to pass judgement , I've seen roughly half of them bat at some stage as my old man used to tape a few games.

Let me guess , the other was Ged voting for Clarke:rolleyes:

Gilchrist.
Wind-up merchant.

Who do you think you are - me?

Although, if I hadn't already voted, I would have been very tempted myself - especially after Neil's (voice fades into distance)

Alas, my transparency proceeds me. :)

And you've now voted for Sobers instead ;)

Will change it to whatever on request, I'm just trying to avoid it being Tendulkar.

Don't say you weren't warned :)

And it's 'precedes', not 'proceeds'. Bleedin' illiterates...

You can't say that! I most certainly did NOT vote for Sobers. You changing it doesn't mean that's who I voted for.
I voted for other and I stand by it!

Ah well, your choice :P

All better now ;)

However, I reserve the right to blame you for everything from England losing the First Test to Third World debt because of this.

There is no reason, I have just reserved that right, just in case it's needed :)

Nice editing of my post, Neil.
What I wrote is still replied to in one of Eddies. 'Posterity', I believe he calls it :D
On that note, I thought you'd let me say Gilchrist any day over Clarke..

sachin tendulkar is the greatest ever batsman to have played cricket. his record speaks for himself.

i voted for brian lara as the 2nd best after sachin.

bradman comes 3rd after lara and sachin.

Does "Ninety Nine Point Nine Four" not mean anything to you?

And you wonder why people don't take you seriously...

Without a doubt the stupidest comment I have ever seen posted on any forum ever.

At first glance one would simply think you were trying to wind us up but judging by other comments you have made I beleive you are actually sincere about this.

Bradman averages 99 , Sachin averages 57 , Lara 51.

Bradman played on uncovered pitches against IMO more accurate if less pacy bowling.

He is numero uno & I cant see that changing anytime in the future.

Tendulkar , Lara & all these others are great players but they will always be number 2 at best.

You mean Bradman played on uncovered pitches etc, obviously :)

bradman, averages 99.94 and sachin, 56.57.

but u cant ignore this fact that bradman had to face total crap bowling. at his time, ther wasnt any decent bowler. bradman played from 1928-1948, when there wasnt any good bowler.

sachin, has had to face bowling from lots of great bowlers like walsh, ambrose, wasim, waqar, mcgrath, gillespie, etc.

another thing, if sachin had played in the bradman era, he would have averaged 150+ and if bradman had played in the present era, his average would have been just around 40.

now 150 is greater than 100 and also 57 is greater than 40. sachin, is arguably the best ever batsman to have played international cricket.

sachins best is yet to come. this year, he top scored for ind in the world cup and the tvs cup. sachin plays with a flair, a passion and with josh and junoon and this is missing in most of the batsman.

sachin is the best ever batsman,no doubt.
