There's a guy in my league who bats with a DF he's had it since he was 14 - and he gets compliments on it from every team he says.

That's the thing - DF were such a cool looking brand, even the non bat gear looked baddass. So wanted one when I was a kid.

They were so cool. In 1988 I remember getting a Duncan Fearnley Magnum for my birthday, it was a superb bat. I also got DF pads & gloves. I think the main reason I wanted a DF was because Martin Crowe used one.

I also subscribed to the DF newsletter, which had posters & batting tips from their stars like Border, Botham & Hick (at that stage Richards had moved to Slazenger).

The last international player I remember using a DF bat was Daniel Vettori in the late 90's.

Gough used Fearnley gear. Still does some clothing ads for them too.

Edit: Reading through some love for the old GN Scoop, they've brought out a special edition for 2013, as well as a couple other retro bats. L:ast one reminds me of the Megadrive from 6 or 7 years ago
