BBC Sport - Kevin Pietersen: ECB apologises over Ashes 'attitude'

Well this is curious. One of the reasons they gave for dropping him was, a lie. Go figure.

The statement suggests the ECB apology is not about what Paul Downton said, but about breaking the confidentiality agreement
Indians can't bowl - Where has the rumour come from as I myself and many indian friends arwe competent fast bowlers ?

With the English bid I said: Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote. They then became sad and left

Downton is lucky that he still has the job

Unbelievable that a MD could fail to understand something so basic as a confidentiality agreement

Should have taken a course in reading rather than body language

Yeah it is pretty poor from him.......and I wouldn't think a simple apology is going to cut it with KP. Not sure what legal recourse he would have but it certainly opens the gate for him to spill his guts and give his side of the story..........which is precisely what the agreement was supposed to stop (for both parties)

He has to prove that this breach has cost him which is no easy thing to do when he has picked up an IPL contract worth 1m+

Simply adds to the impression that he is a victim more than anything else

Downton hasn't impressed me one iota since he took over. Looks like the Peter Principle in full effect, sadly.

Isn't he a solicitor too? Or legally trained at least. One might've hoped someone with a more than passing acquaintance with the law would've better understood the terms of a severance agreement.

Have to say tho Cook doesn't strike one as the hissy fit type. As one understands he was one of the principle architects of the reconciliation after the textgate gubbins of 2012, in fact. Seems very much a pragmatist in everything he does.

Of the senior players in situ at the time one could've believed it of Swann, Prior or Broad, but the former two were out of the test XI by the time the knife fell anyway.

    - As featured in The Independent.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."

Downton and ECB obliged with the agreement for months before the interview. The idea that he suddenly forgot about it seems pretty unlikely...

What was the angle then? To prove what a big swinging dick he has?

5-0 changes a lot of things and we all saw how England fell to pieces during the course of the summer

    Well, quite.

In fact that's a pretty generous assessment, I'd say.

He's not the first "difficult" talent we've had (Snow, Gower, Edmonds, etc) and it always seems to end up the same way.

Whilst exposing themselves to legal liability?

    Doubt it

Reckon that the ECB are just another wealthy, incompetent set of dicks that assumed the world would swallow their bs

    When they didn't, they panicked
