Best Forward Defence in the game

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Tendulkar has played the forward defence for four a few times - looks majestic. Dravid's technique is nowhere near as good as tendulkars.
Yeah exactly. People confuse patience and discipline with technique.

In both their pomps, Dravid is less likely to be caught at slip cover driving when he shouldn't than say Tendulkar. That doesn't mean he has a better technique than him though.

haha, god I love cricket, I'm sure other sports would lol their arses off that people saying which non-shot they find the best of players. It's also clearly more of an asthetic thing considering the lack of AB.

Next up, best faker in a penalty corner; who slices the air more cleanly, Craig Davies or Jim Irvine?

Tendulkar's technique has stayed remarkably watertight compared to Dravid whose once impeccable forward defence deteriorated in his twilight years with imperfect weight transfer onto the front leg. You could see his backfoot moving after completing the stroke, something you'd be hard pressed to find in his pomp. That image upstairs is a thing of beauty.

Forward defence technique is very often going to be different for spin bowlers than what it is with seam bowlers.

International 12th Man
Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Damien Martyn, Younis Khan comes to my mind....
Ermmm, if there was one area of Ponting's game that kinda sucked it would be his forward defence.

Describe the difference...
Well players now are more likely to defend spinners by playing in front of the pad. This reduces the risk of getting LBW when the ball turns and is less likely to get the squeeze with the bat pad.

To the seam bowlers you're more likely to play later.
