Afridi is Thunder No 1 spinner and Doran is there as back up. With all the options thrown up, they are all on par with Doran. None would really warrant playing as 3rd spinner.

Yeah, true. Afridi isn't available the whole time, but they'll still have Doran, and can look into a few of the names suggested as supplementary players if there are any injuries.

Best we'll ever seen.
So who will KP join then?
obv not the sixers if we can only afford to give stuey 20k
Say, our winning HRV Cup team gets the Champions League ticket and Warnie, Gayle, Big Bash fanfare the next year...humiliating, but intriguing.
NZC and NZCPA is so market-led I reckon they'd fall in love with that idea if it was offered. A best-of-3 'defender vs. contender' showdown for the Big Bash ticket would be pretty attractive for their pay TV partner too, making up for the fact the HRV itself is reduced to the 5 duds.
Yep, Vettori's Test commitments (in SA) will run from late Dec to mid Jan.

Probably looking for Fresh blood, wouldn't be surpsied if they sign Adam Zampa,he has a pretty good 2nds record.
Stu Macgill didn't take that many wickets.
Word on the street is that they sent Smith back to kangas to learn how to bowl leg spin.

Notes and thoughts
- BBL site really nailed it with this helpful page showing which players moved teams, and who the new players are: Player Signings - Big Bash League
- With that said, Cowan is really spitting on the Sixers. He was nothing before his old grade teammate threw him a bone
- The PCB banned Ajmal Saeed, Umar Akmal & Rad Afridi from playing in the BigBash. But then backed down. And now the Sixers have dumped Umar Akmal and, and this just shows how much the Thunder suck, Afridi has dumped the Thunder.
- We've moved from 7 games a season to 8. Fairly sensible. I'm sure when we lose a test match most of the media will be mad though.
- Our English viewers will get to watch the BigBash via Sky this time. TMS has also struck a deal with the ABC to do radio of the BigBash. Test Match Sofa will presumably strike a deal with Spark to do radio of the BigBash.
- Our Australian viewers with high internet speed but no Foxtel are in no way affected by Sky showing the BigBash
- I'm still yet to decide whether to call it the BigBash or the Big Bash.
- The Thunder, like I said, still suck
- Darren Berry is still pissed his own little shane warne, James Muirhead, has signed with the Melbourne Muralitharans
- Cameron White got sacked as captain. Shane Warne is captain. benchmark00 to make a comment every time the words 'Shane Warne captain Australia' are used.
- No MacGill. yet.
- Pretty sure Simon Katich is gonna be the Perth captain.
- Pretty sure The Thunder aren't gonna bother with a captain this time.

On paper the Stars look a class above IMO. Sixers run close.
Why did they have to sign Michael Lumb again, though?
EDIT:
Spikey, Scott Coyte as the nominal Thunder captain?
