So Wellington will probably add Cachopa right.

Otago probably Duffy.

Auckland? NFI

ND? Looks like they'll want batsmen. Is Hiini still up there? de Boorder keen to move down the road?

CD? Maybe Cleaver if they want a keeper when Kruger is away.

Canterbury? McEwan or Nuttall perhaps.

Any big names missing? I noticed McSkimming isn't in Otago's list.

Hamish Bennett's recovering well apparently. It will be interesting to see how he goes.

Well we need a keeper now that McGlashan has retired, whether we look within the region or look to go outside will be interesting. Both Shane Gadsdon and Owen Ivins have played in recent seasons when McGlashan or Watling were unavailable but neither of them have really done a lot with the bat at the lower levels. Could well look to poach Dane Cleaver from CD. Not exactly a massive move and he has family in the area, plus he obviously knows Williamson quite well. Again though, he's just as young as Gadsdon and Ivins so you don't really know what you'll get from him.

Brett Hampton should pick up one of the remaining contracts, dominated for BOP last season. Santner, Walker, Hatwell, Carter, Hickey, Kelly, Popli and I supppose that useless **** Hiini should all go close to picking one up too. Real shame about Mathieson, would've been given a real run this summer had he stayed.

Was it SteveNZ who made that post a couple of months back where he said Cricket was becoming more rural meaning areas like the Waikato and Manawatu would be the producers of cricket talent for the forseeable future. In my day Auckland had enough players for two first class teams. Ian Smith in his autobiography listed what a North Harbour team would have looked like and discussed the issue.

Full strength Manawatu would give several FC teams a run for their money. How, Taylor, Oram, Cleaver, Milne, Small etc. Exported Worker to the Cantabs as well.

I might get to bowl to him this year if he has come back, judging by how highly the Penrith selectors seem to rate him.

Someone else brought it up, but I was saying Harbour would have a reasonable side. But it would dilute Auckland, lessen their chances of winning HRVs, trophies etc.

And yeah Mike, I did/do/may/have..
