Kuggeleijn 142* vs CD
Bruce Martin 114 vs ND
Tarun Nethula 108 vs Otago
Adam Milne 97 vs Otago
Southee currently 85* vs Wellington
Mark Gillespie 77 vs Canterbury

Guys like Andrew and Astle have had success with the bat this season as well.

Seriously Kuggs, your slower ball is gun. If you can't account for Southee I'm disappointed.

Really? From what I saw of it, I was never terribly impressed with Young's keeping. Looked pretty average against the spinners and even dropped the odd catch off the seamers. Having said that, I only saw him keep in maybe 3 matches, so I probably don't have enough evidence to form a fair judgement of him.

Southee WAG.

This knock got me thinking though, should Southee move up ahead of Bracewell in the test team? I'd say his record would look a lot better than Bracewell's since he came into the team.

Depends on the situation IMO. Mind you, Bracewell hasn't shown the best judgement of the situation at times. I'd be inclined to bat Jeetan Patel ahead of both in certain situations (i.e. where you need the tail end charlie to hold up an end to support a set batsman at the other).

lol, 152 now. Anyone have any idea what the higest score a number eight has scored on the first day of a four day game before? Must be getting close.

Certainly a good follow up to Gareth Andrew's 126 on day one yesterday.

RTD was a pretty good pick up for Otago.

Southee

It casts the capabilities and techniques of ND's Blackcap batsmen in a poor light when a brainless slogger like him can effortlessly score more than the lot of them combined.

Southee steps up to the plate to prove the point! 156 off 130..not bad for a No.8! Wellington's inexperienced pace attack exposed. And it looks like Hutchinson has a no-ball issue.

Lots of big runs at No.6-7 by the likes of Munro and Ronchi, too.

Plus 50's for Sodhi and Bates.

And so often they have been in a "backs to the wall" situation when the specialists have failed to do their job, unless that is simply to take the shine off the ball

Indeed, it's a pretty amazing scorecard. Although, remembering the way he smashed the English bowlers on his debut I'm not surprised he could do this on his day.

Southee's brought one back to trap Brodie in front, you don't say. I wonder if Murdoch will get caught at 2nd slip...
