Who'd like to see the Southland team? And who cares?
Jason Domigan (c), Mark Beer, Hamish Cooke, Ryan Duffy, Shaun Fitzgibbon, Michael Grattan, Jonathan Hodson, Callum Johnstone, Ryan Meyer, Hamish O'Brien, Rhuebyn Prattley, Simon Wadworth. Ryan Duffy is Jacob Duffy's older brother. But the interesting name is Ryan Meyer, an Australian chinaman bowler who has come over to try to crack FC cricket. He is apparently a bit egotistical and threw a tantrum when he got out against my club's senior side a couple of weeks ago. I would have played in that game but got dropped at the last minute, albeit for the best bowler in Southland, who does not make himself available for the Hawke Cup.

Colin Munro passed 1000 career FC runs in the last match (at an average in high 50s).
No drum beating for selection by me, just saying congratulations, good start and keep it up. Plus. As a hack bowler myself, it is pleasing when chump batsmen get shown up ..... |

i thought it was long overdue, but i think its well past his time now
Astle needs to be invested in and Jeets has done ok, surely you dont take 3 spinners on tour...i would have thought Nathula would have been ahead of Martin in the pecking order as well |

Well with what's happened this week it wouldn't surprise me if Jeets got ditched for some ****ty reason.
Martin should have been ahead of Astle and Nethula this whole time. Just cause they're leggies ("point of difference" - eat a dick Doully etc) doesn't mean they should be picked if they're not actually the next best bowler. |

Bugger off with the Bruce Martin pick. We're going to South Africa we don't need a backup spinner and Jeets is our first choice by a long stretch.
If Jeets gets injured just play another seamer. We're trying to squeeze Southee, Boult, Bracewell, Gillespie, Wagner, Martin and co all into the same attack. Let Williamson/Guptill/Taylor spin it if we have to have a guy there, those guys + another seamer would be far better than Bruce Martin or any other spinner. That said they'd probably be better than Jeets too. |
