    Just wondering why Guptill didn't get into the IPL this year? Isn't he the second best batsman in the world at 20/20 according to the ICC rankings and one of the best fielders in the world? Seems really strange to me he wasn't picked up. (the auction was also before he got injured)

    Either;
    Because NZ touring England during IPL, so wouldn't be available for whole tournament. Or,
    Weird vendetta against those who snub IPL.

    Ground delay at Hagley Oval, but when it does get underway it should be interesting. CD have named Nethula 12 th man, and have pace attack of Milne, Wheeler, Bracewell, Mathieson.

    While Henry and Bennett in Canterbury side.

    Batsmen on both sides hoping the covers are good ......

    He was a bargain at 100,000 i reckon, considering Maxwell went for a million and guptills probably a better bowler! Has he snubbed the IPL in the past?

    Just missing Bevan Small now. Looks like Dan the man is back.

    Must be injured.

    It's weird seeing CD without Sinclair.

    Can't believe you're not counting 'Marty two-toes' as a flash nickname. If that doesn't bring in the casual Indian spectator I don't know what will.

    He's down to bat, unless the scorecard is wrong.

    Yeah that's a dream bowling attack. Not sure whether Small injured again or just left out in favour of Mathieson (who had better figures from the last match).

    Or Wellington realises that he's so incapable of playing a proper innings right now, that they're saving him for the last 20 overs.

    Although, tbh. Mathieson ahead of Nethula doesn't really make much sense, regardless of the pitch. Especially when 5 th bowling options Cachopa and Noema-Barnett provide handy seam-up.

    Nethula is a very good domestic LO bowler

    Toothache for Ryder apparently. Pitch got too green under the covers for Sodhi. Franklin gifted a kiddie's boundary for his lofts from the western edge of the block, Vettori 1/67.
