Looks like everyones first go at batting after the boom boom isn't going well.
Congrats to Hakaraia for his debut ton. edit: just noticed Sodhi has only bowled four and a bit overs. itstl. keen to get a look at this pitch. maybe its spicy? edit2: with that wicket Verma has four balls at Marto. would 8fer be the best figures ever by a debutant in nz?

Stoked for Hakaraia. From what I saw of him in the HRV Cup a year or two back, he had a really solid technique; just didn't seem suited to T20. So it's good to see him do well in the longer form. And he's done so at a very decent clip, to be fair.

Flynn in a hurry. Either that or C Martin, Bates and Bartlett just aren't much of a challenge after Steyn, Morkel and Philander. |

If you said he'd pick up his first FC wicket at the age of 22 five years ago you would've been laughed at. He's had a few injury problems tbf but still, crazy that it's taken this long. Serious bowler and very handy with the bat (as he showed during one of the televised 20/20 games) Glad to see Flynn opening too, best place for him.

I was wondering what guys like Southee, Boult, Williamson etc averaged in the Plunket Shield. So I did a bit of research and came up with some of our best 25 and under cricketers:
Kane Williamson (22): 1753 @ 60.44 + 34 @ 37.55 Collin Munro (25): 1108 @ 58.31 + 25 @ 33.12 Craig Cachopa (21): 469 @ 52.11 Hamish Rutherford (23): 1157 @ 38.57 Jeet Raval (24): 2021 @ 38.13 Will Young (20): 376 @ 37.60 Matt Henry (21): 37 @ 18.51 Tim Southee (24): 87 @ 23.11 Trent Boult (23): 73 @ 24.39 Dean Bartlett (25): 21 @ 24.85 Adam Milne (20): 29 @ 26.41 Ben Wheeler (21): 36 @ 28.47 Bevan Small (20): 17 @ 28.52 Pretty good list for the bowlers. ****ing typical. Pick Houghton and then he's (at the earliest) 6th bowler.
