Yeah very happy with our attack at the moment. Reckon Tugs offers something at this level and will do well for Wellington over the years.

Kuggs will probably be a Black Cap if he gets a bit quicker. Gillespie is as always the random shunt/gun he has always been.

Houghton looks in a bit of form from the HRV cup, so is hopefully still confident.
Tugaga = Tugs
Kugglejuggle = Kuggs

Surely then, Houghton = Hugs?

Looks like everyones first go at batting after the boom boom isn't going well.

Congrats to Hakaraia for his debut ton.

edit: just noticed Sodhi has only bowled four and a bit overs. itstl. keen to get a look at this pitch. maybe its spicy?

edit2: with that wicket Verma has four balls at Marto. would 8fer be the best figures ever by a debutant in nz?

Stoked for Hakaraia. From what I saw of him in the HRV Cup a year or two back, he had a really solid technique; just didn't seem suited to T20. So it's good to see him do well in the longer form. And he's done so at a very decent clip, to be fair.

Fuller is bound to come back to Gloucestershire injured. Good to see him doing well though. Hopefully be able to turn it on regularly for us this year.

If you said he'd pick up his first FC wicket at the age of 22 five years ago you would've been laughed at. He's had a few injury problems tbf but still, crazy that it's taken this long. Serious bowler and very handy with the bat (as he showed during one of the televised 20/20 games)

Glad to see Flynn opening too, best place for him.

Everyone that's supposed to be scoring runs is failing and instead Dusan Hakaraia on FC debut is first to pass 50
After complaining about this, Raval scores 54, Flynn 78* and Rutherford 90*. Pity Gillespie couldn't pick up a bag to show he's fit and firing too (he's probably not though).

I was wondering what guys like Southee, Boult, Williamson etc averaged in the Plunket Shield. So I did a bit of research and came up with some of our best 25 and under cricketers:

Kane Williamson (22): 1753 @ 60.44 + 34 @ 37.55
Collin Munro (25): 1108 @ 58.31 + 25 @ 33.12
Craig Cachopa (21): 469 @ 52.11
Hamish Rutherford (23): 1157 @ 38.57
Jeet Raval (24): 2021 @ 38.13
Will Young (20): 376 @ 37.60

Matt Henry (21): 37 @ 18.51
Tim Southee (24): 87 @ 23.11
Trent Boult (23): 73 @ 24.39
Dean Bartlett (25): 21 @ 24.85
Adam Milne (20): 29 @ 26.41
Ben Wheeler (21): 36 @ 28.47
Bevan Small (20): 17 @ 28.52

Pretty good list for the bowlers.
