Yeah, but this is a special case.

This is basically me being a **** and not wanting to give England any help in developing a player who used to be ours.
Tedious.

Unfortunately, I was out of town for work today so haven't even seen a ball yet. Was offered a free ticket to the game too, **** it. Well done anyway, Otago. Go us.

Ask Baldy Shawn if he was the guy who got kicked out.

Otago have been brilliant, and Duffy's been incredible, but I hope they don't put him in the Blackcaps this year, or next year. He hasn't even stopped growing yet, we have a lot of fast bowling options (unlike every other position). There's no need to rush him.

Cricket: Canterbury attack maybe vulnerable | Stuff.co.nz

Eleven players are unavailable for Canterbury's sixth-round Plunket Shield clash with Central Districts in Napier starting on Thursday - eight of them frontline bowlers.

Willie Lonsdale (glandular fever), Ed Nuttall (back complaint and possible stress fracture), Logan van Beek (still monitoring a long-term injury that stops him bowling long spells), Gareth Andrew (contract finished and returned to Britain), Ben McCord (groin) and Will Williams (heel) are all unavailable.

McCord is due back "soon" but Lonsdale and Nuttall could both be out for the season.

Matt Henry and Hamish Bennett are improving and both played club cricket at the weekend, but Stead said mid-February was still the aim for their return.

While the bowling stocks were ravaged by injury, there was no temptation to rush back Bennett or Henry, Stead said.

"We have to look at the long term and it's definitely not worth risking them."

Both are finding form in club cricket, though aren't bowling enough overs to be able to withstand the rigours of four-day cricket.

Bennett took 4-13 from eight overs for Riccarton on Saturday against Henry's Marist-Harewood side, while Henry replied with 2-10 from nine overs.
Cricket: Andy McKay's Return To Firebirds On Hold | Stuff.co.nz

Howie promised a good Plunket run, Jeets not dropped for him though (personal reasons). Gillespie possibly back Jan 31, McKay reaggravates injury.

Would they really have played Woodcock, Houghton AND Jeets? I don't believe that.

Anyway, good to see Howie get another chance at First Class level. His bowling record isn't great, but I don't think he's really been given much bowling responsibility in the past. He should be bowling ahead of Woodcock IMO, and I think he's a better player now than he was when he last played in the whites. Good luck to him.

Also hoping that Pollard can start to repay the investment. Him, Brodie and Murdoch need to score some runs desperately.

Is there an equivalent of Robbie Kerr's position at Wellington Cricket (Director of Cricket) at Auckland?

O'Donnell might be about to get a game ftr, Vincent no longer seen as a FC player...

Vincent heading to Bangladesh
Monday, 21 January 2013

Lou Vincent heads off to Bangladesh for the next month
Aces batsman Lou Vincent has been given leave from his Aces playing contract to play in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Vincent will leave New Zealand immediately to take part in the competition that is already under way but will return for the Aces Ford Trophy one day campaign that gets under way in late-February.
Auckland Cricket CEO Mark Cameron said that it was a practical decision given the Aces upcoming schedule.

“We’ve got a solid diet of four day Plunket Shield cricket coming up for the next month and realistically we now regard Lou as a short form player so it makes little sense to potentially have him sitting on the sideline when he could be getting quality match practice elsewhere.”

Vincent will team up with the Khulna Royal Bengals squad in the BPL for the duration of the competition which runs until the 19 February.

Just looked at Auckland A averages for this years tournament. McIntosh of course played the whole tournament, so M Barry the only other contender? Looks like had a solid but unspectacular tournament. Averaged 30 but scored pretty much half as many as Timmy Mac.

Next round of Plunket Shield starts Thursday - great. Want to see some runs.

That's bad news about Canterbury's bowling attack - lots of promising bowlers however things keep going wrong. Stress fracture for Nuttall would be v bad.

Auckland now cold on O'Donnell. Not an U19 player, not yet a woman.

Article - Auckland Cricket

Gareth Hopkins (Captain) (Parnell)
Dean Bartlett (Ellerslie)
Michael Bates (Suburbs New Lynn)
Craig Cachopa (Takapuna)
Colin de Grandhomme (Howick Pakuranga)
Michael Guptill-Bunce (Cornwall)
Dusan Hakaraia (Grafton United)
Tim McIntosh (Parnell)
Bruce Martin (Parnell)
Chris Martin (Parnell)
Matt Quinn (Cornwall)
Reece Young (Suburbs New Lynn)

Cornwall opener Michael Guptill-Bunce is the one new face for the Aces as they head back into four day cricket this Thursday against the Northern Knights.

Guptill-Bunce gets his chance on the back of some excellent club form and a hundred for Auckland A last week. He will join recalled opener Tim McIntosh at the top of the order for the Aces.

When did Guptill-Bunce play for Auckland A? Did not play in the A tournament according to cricket archive. Hakaraia rewarded for good tournament, fair dues. O'Donnell not an opener, so no worries from me about him not directly replacing Vincent. But to be so unorganised and short sighted that he misses both U19s and A tournaments is ****ing outrageous, seriously negligent by whoever oversees that at Auckland Cricket. Is that Matt Horne? As high performance manager? Seriously difficult to work out who is responsible for planning more than one match ahead up there.

Mathieson playing in that CD joke attack. Taste it Howsie.

Mathieson, Badenhorst and Jarvis are all fit to play aren't they? With Nethula as the spinner the CD attack is okay without being brilliant.
