It's alright Cabinet I thought of reminding you but thought you were busy

And finally Ian Chappell to pull and hook all bouncers; needed to strengthen slip as well

1. Bill Ponsford
2. Arthur Morris
3. Ian Chappell
4. Eddie Paynter
5. Clive Lloyd *
6. Frank Woolley

8. Ray Lindwall
9. Dennis Lillee
10. Fred Trueman
11. Clarrie Grimmett
Tough team to beat. Ticks every box imo.

Openers capable of high scores. L/R combo.
Aggressive number 3.
Very solid middle order with a bowling option at 6 and a great keeper/batsman at 7. Left hander in there.
A number 8 who can bat a bit.
Three quicks of the highest quality (not sure how you managed all three of them in one team tbh), they wouldn't be out of place in a straight ATG team.
A high class spinner.
I'd make Chappelli captain over Lloyd.

This team is pretty awesome as well. That batting line up is so aggressive!

Guessing AB is keeping? Worrell at 7, wow!

Barlow opening ahead of Barry Richards is a surprising choice. Richards and Greenidge would make an excellent combination at the top I reckon.

I can't help but feel Richards would have excelled at 3. And I feel Barlow and Greenidge would work well, as chalk and cheese.

I'll probably bring in a keeper for Barlow anyway, and move Richards back up to 1, Macartney back to 3, with Worrell and De Villiers moving up one each.

I'm pretty sure that they batted at Hampshire together during the middle 70s.
So you already have an established opening partnership Eds!

Ah, that's a very good point. Will have to ensure they're up there together by the end. Barlow will be an excellent 12th man.

Simpson, Taylor, Chappell and Hassett all legitimate candidates for captaincy. I agree with your call and I'd have Taylor and Hassett slightly above the other two as captains. Not entirely sure why, just would.

Very strong keeper and slip cordon here:

Allan Knott---Mark Taylor---Greg Chappell---Bob Simpson

Doesn't get any better than that.

I imagine that Taylor and Hassett were less dictatorial than either Simpson or Chappell. Wisden wrote in 1949;

Although ARTHUR LINDSAY HASSETT finished second to Bradman in the Australian averages, statistics convey but an inadequate impression of his true value to the 1948 side. In addition to his playing ability Hassett's cheerfulness and leadership, which extended to off-the-field relaxation as well as in the more exacting part of the programme, combined to make him an ideal vice-captain able to lift a considerable load off Bradman's busy shoulders.

Wisden - Lindsay Hassett
With Hassett and Taylor at the helm this team would be very focused but relaxed at the same time. It would most certainly enjoy its cricket.

When I create a team I think that these things are important. It's not a matter of just throwing big names together but rather considering how their various personalities, styles, and skills would blend together. I try to avoid men like Boycott if I can because he is selfish and not a team player. Simpson has all the dogmatism of Boycott, but his dogmatism was for the cause and good of the team. Hence he is a much better choice as opener - I think. etc etc

No it doesn't. Nothing gets through there. Amazing cordon and bowlers to utilise it.
