Doesn't matter, anyone who can hook Bob Willis off the last ball of the day to bring up his century is the type of No.6 you want.

One of my favourites.

Same here. His larrikin streak often overshadows how good he was.

Was Hall is still a better choice for your particular team IMO.

Steyn was crying out for a new ball partner. You now have two quicks that can seriously knock the batsmans head off. What more do you want?

I have couple of more head crushing opening bowlers in my mind but yeah you are right! Steyn was waiting for a lethal partner...

in 174 FC matches Bill averaged 64.99. He was a great captain too.

Yes, a great captain. But I'm pretty sure that he was an opener.

You can bat him at No.5 if you want to. There is no rule against it I guess.

I remember that Gooch batted at No.5 for a short while during the early 90s in order to hold the middle order together against Shane Warne and did very well. Eg;

3rd Test: England v Australia at Nottingham, Jul 1-6, 1993 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
