    Prasanna or Saqlain?

    Normally I'd select Prasanna but having Imran and Miandad in the side changes the dynamics somewhat. So on the basis of the this superb 10 wicket haul against India at Chennai, and a Strike Rate of 67.64, I'll go for Saqlain Mushtaq (9th Wicket partnership);

    01. Geoff Boycott
    02. Hanif Mohammad
    03. Brian Lara
    04. Dudley Nourse
    05. Vijay Hazare
    06. Javed Miandad
    07. Imran Khan
    08. Ray Lindwall
    09. Jackie Hendriks
    10. Saqlain Mushtaq
    11. Joel Garner

    Why? Neither of them really played that many games with him iirc.

    Surprising pick.

    Probably swayed by watching videos of Saqlain bowling today. But he did dismiss a line-up of very good players against spin bowling;

    HowSTAT! Player Bowling Analysis

    Tendulkar
    Lara
    Dravid
    S. Waugh
    M. Waugh
    Hayden
    Laxman
    Azharuddin
    de Silva
    Jayawardene
    etc

    And here is Prasanna's line-up of dismissals for comparison;

    http://www.howstat.com.au/cricket/St...?PlayerID=1393

    I. Chappell
    Redpath
    Lawry
    Lloyd
    Kanhai
    Greig
    Kallicharan
    Sobers
    etc

    Personally, I don't think that there's a lot between them as off-spinners and both can do the job of dismissing top-notch batsman.

    Knew it was a mistake leaving this till last - can't find anyone I want but I guess Moises Henriques can do a job at #8. Considered Southee, but he seems like a spare if he's never getting the new ball.

    Howe's XI

    1. Len Hutton
    2. Virender Sehwag
    3. Clyde Walcott+
    4. KS Ranjitsinhji
    5. Allan Border*
    6. Shivnaraine Chanderpaul
    7. Aubrey Faulkner (4)
    8. Moises Henriques (5)
    9. Chaminda Vaas (3)
    10. Fred Trueman (1)
    11. Courtney Walsh (2)

    Very happy with the batting. Bowling not so much, but ah well.
    Maybe we wouldn't be so quick to fill buckets with filth if we knew they had a soul. Or maybe that's what they're into. Ain't no way to get inside a bucket's mind.

    It might fire-up again after dinner with a Voting thread.

    Come to think of it, there was a much better player you could of picked for that #8 spot. Will let you know who it is once Jager and Monk have made their picks.

    I wasn't suggesting anything other than Sunday evening is a likely picking time for Jager and Monk, and then a Voting thread.
