I think 12 would probably be way more efficent and prevent the draft from dragging on, which is unfortunate because some excellent drafters will miss out on the first round.

So, on how big the relegation zone should be. Instinct says two, which would mean morgieb and Monk gain promotion at the end of the round and the bottom two vote pollers exit the league until they are in line to re-enter. This adds pressure to the draft, as in future rounds even the championship leader may be relegated for a round after a disaster of a draft.

We have six points-scoring positions (1-6), four neutral mid-table positions (7-10) and two demotion positions (11-12).

First draft rules
ATG test draft, players must have played at least one test match.
No Bradman.
There is a 12 hour selection zone before you are skipped. You still choose at any time, but the draft continues and you may miss out on players.
We will have twelve rounds. Your 12th pick does not have to be your 12th man.
A new thread will go up on Cricket Chat where everyone votes on three different teams, which is how we will determine the winners, point-scorers etc.

Alright, the draft league is on.

Just had a thought (yeah yeah, a rarity I know). What happens if there are more than 2 teams tied for demotion? It is possible that 3 or more teams might all be stuck on zero points, or 1 point, or whatever.

Not sure what to suggest though. However, we don't want to get into the situation where everyone has to vote for their 2 worst teams. It could get acrimonous.

Perhaps we could just say that 2 teams are demoted when possible, but if there happen to be more than 2 teams tied on points (or no points) then those teams (3 or more) all get demoted?

I think that a specific time frame for voting is also advisable. Say, 1 week. Otherwise when do you know to declare the winners/losers since the whole of Cricketweb is voting?

Or, it is compulsory for all participants in the Draft League AND the Reserve Draft League to vote, but the voting is still left open for a week so that other interested Cricketweb people can vote as well.

Gutted Macartney got snatched from me! Good pick Eds. Ponny also a great selection, he was a colossus. Watson, I have been struggling to figure out the voting too - what happens in the third and fourth 'seasons' of the Draft League? Will people start strategically voting for other competitors in order to give themselves an advantage? I would hope that we all agree on an honour code - we all vote on who we genuinely believe are the three best sides. Anyone can vote though, seeing as a large majority of CW drafters are involved in the League and the Reserves.

BTW Here is some footage of Kanhai coming in at 2 for 27 during the 1975 World Cup against Australia. It's his last international match I think (check out the greying hair), but the square drive off Jeff Thomson is something else. Richie Benaud's laconic remark in response is quite amusing.
