Happens all the time in reverse in district cricket in Melbourne. When it's a 40 degree day, there are lots of low scores, because the curators put more in it for the bowlers.

Every time I say that Trott isn't a 50+ player he goes out and does this. I don't like to see him succeed for some reason, but Cooky in the runs is good in my eyes from a purely long term record-smashing point of view.

Philander is so overhyped it is unreal. Never expected him to run through us as he wasn't running through county sides earlier in the season. He has only beaten up the poor Aussie and NZ sides on perfect tracks to bowl on for christs sake.

I reckon the draw is going to be the most likely option at this stage.

Na, pitch will break up as the game goes on. You get uneven bounce usually at Oval so Broad and Swann will bowl us to victory as long as the weather doesn't intervene.

Were the NZ tracks perfect to bowl on?

No. The reason people expect so much of him is because he's performed spectacularly. He has more 10fers in 7 matches than Broad or Anderson have in their careers, he's had a mental start to his career.

I think the point is that he was never going to keep that standard up for so long. Doesn't mean he's overhyped and doesn't mean he can't still bowl brilliantly against us.

I'm basing that assumption on the weather intervening at least one of the days, which it looks like it might. If there isn't any lost time, then yeah you might be right, although SA are a decent side against spin.

Come on, he was never going to average 14 against England. Still think he will average around 30 but that is mortal not freaky like he is being hyped up to be.
