I don't mind the additional T20I but really hate two test series. The Ausralia-RSA two test series was a great competition to watch and should ideally have been three tests.

At least Pakistan is getting the three tests.

Never in a million years would I have thought Brumby to admit this!!!!!!

Hardly anyone? There would still be more people than in Durban.

When last did you watch a cricket match played in Durban? Have you looked to see what flags are waving?

Nice try at sarcasm, only I don't care - being an atheist who lives with people of multiple ethnicities.

No boxing day test sucks big time.

Yes it was. And in fact South Africa are going to Australia in their early summer instead of the festive season. That means Australia's marquee series will be while everyone is at work and all the kids our at school. The reason they didn't go during the festive period was that they wanted a boxing day test of their own, and obviously that isn't happening now.

Argh, now we play one more T20I against NZL in the format they are most likely to win in and sacrifice a Test match to make it a two Test series, so if we end up losing one, we have no way of winning the series. I can see why CSA has done it from a financial POV but it's seriously frustrating to give up Test matches just to accommodate T20s. I'm a fan of T20s and there is a definite place in the game for them but never at the expense of Test matches.

Surely the revenue from ticket sales of the Test match would probably match that of the single T20?

I was chatting to my Aussie mate and we both agreed that CSA's request was certainly reasonable given that it would only be once every 8 years that Australia wouldn't be at home over Xmas and new year period. CA also just won't want to give up those receipts and thats fair enough !

Its just not the 5 days from boxing day thats the height of our summer and holiday season but also just before Xmas and the New Year period. So its not the fact that South Africa replacing Boxing Days test is hyporcritical as its more than just those 5 days !

But man am I pissed off that our traditional boxing day test is being changed for a T20 match. What a disgrace and its no surprise at all coming from CSA !

Yeah, but that has to be balanced against the extra costs of having the place open for five days. In terms of efficient use of resources, it's a no-brainer.

Looking forward to the RSA-Pak clash though. It will be Misbah's toughest test yet on swinging wickets made for Steyn and Philander. Even if we lose, I would like Azhar and Shafiq to do well and for at least on new quick bowler to announce himself to the world.
