If I could get good odds I'd put a lazy hundred bucks on 'World E XI' to take out the comp amoung all those teams. Their four pronged pace attack led by Steyn and Roberts looks really strong. My only concern is that Gooch wouldn't last the hour if he came up against Barnes, Bedser, or Tate judging by his prior performances against Terry Alderman.

The World E team's attack looks unstoppable, I must agree. H's attack looks the weakest to me, but the middle order is very good.

Trevor Goddard has the bowling figures to match anyone left in the game, which sets him apart from the remaining openers. Would allow a unique looking side that can bat deep.

When I was watching Fire in Babylon with Howe Snr, he claimed that Desmond Haynes was actually better than his more famous opening partner, having apparatly batted out togher runs than Greenidge. Not sure how much of that is true, but his is the name that stuck out to me from the list.

Pick David Gower already.

Clem Hill was once the leading run-scorer in 30 years of Test cricket, and was widely considered the best in the world over the likes of Ranji and Jackson.

VVS Laxman is a personal favourite and would be the team's firefighter at #5.

Should we consider AB as a wicketkeeper?
No way - hasn't kept very much at all at test level IIRC. Played one test in place of Boucher that I can remember.

BTW, could you change my vote from Barlow to Goddard?

Would it be possible to add Richie Richardson next time if he's not already in the shortlists? Same with Big Merv.

Not a fan of people changing their votes - surely goes against the whole concept of what's being tried here?

Ponsford

Cowdrey, Gower, De Villiers

Like to see Greig slot in at 6 for this side, think that gives it a decent balance.

EDIT: yeah, Camo999, going to lump for Richardson next as my number 3 after I Chappell.
