I've seen a bit of Will Young and Jacob Duffy now. They look quite talented but haven't seen the rest.

We're in with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Scotland. Could be a pool of death with Afghanistan's quick rise through the senior ranks.

Interesting they decided two guys played their way out of the squad I guess. Could be 'Sodhi's clearly our #1 spinner, if you don't offer NcCullum-type batting you don't play' as much as anything with Walker. 20 overs, 1/82 in three games, got killed by Sodhi is all. Nick Kelly had a 62* off 68 then four failures, dropped.

Robbie O'Donnell is a very solid young player, possibly cracked it on the basis of club form and previous efforts at U-19 tournament. Seems composed beyond his years.

I honestly can't think of one off the top of my head. I can't really think of one in the past either...first one that popped into my head was Bryce McGain(!).

Only reason I say that is McGain is/was tall, kinda burst into the crease, didn't rip it prodigiously but in saying that, had the ability to on his day. Consistent groupings as well (at first-class level, clearly not at Test level)

Sodhi is all those things. His greatest attributes are height, therefore bounce, and has a very well disguised wrong-un. Those are the sort of things that nick guys out and get a lot of catches in close, which he does. And they're also the sort of things that become weapon on more pitches - ie not just bunsen burners which we seldom play on anyway.

He's a real prospect, and even better I think he's suited to the longer forms. And is an 8-9 batsmen, not a 10-11.

I played against Connor Neynens last season in England, looks a very elegant batsman, played him three times last year, can only remember him really hurting us in a cup game with an 80-odd, but you could see his quality in his other knocks too.

He bowled over here aswell, got big outswing at their place, but his bowling certainly seemed his weaker suit. Looked a very decent fielder too.

Great vids - thanks for posting. Any legspinner is pretty exciting. From those vids looks like Sodhi has decent control (a couple of full-tosses are par for any leggy). Lots of overspin - probably not going to generate huge side-spin with that high-arm action. Unless he changes it a bit for longer format matches. Also good to see someone doing well from Souf Auckland.

Too good for the right handed batsman whoever that was.
Joe Carter from ND. "good enough to be NZ's top scorer in the series by plenty" - Howsie.

Over 0.5: Cummins to Carter, no run, pushes forward to defend and beaten by a quick ball outside the off stump.
Over 0.6: Cummins to Carter, no run, OUT, gone, clean bowled! We're side-on here and that ball was very quick, too quick for Carter trying to defend. Cummins strikes early, NZL 1/1.
