i'm really not sure if i want the prince to fail or ton up here. on one hand, if he tons up, great! on the other, i really don't want him to be around the test team for awhile and there's already a sense of "he's back!" that worries me

well Cowan's being doing really well of late too, so there isn't really anyone he can replace yet. Warner, Watson, Clarke, Ponting, Hussey all surely set in stone for now. Wouldn't actually mind if he came in for a match or two to replace someone resting or injured etc...but yeah I agree I wouldn't want him there with any permanence atm.

i'm actually more worried about him being next in whether than actually playing. Like, if he was to somehow break into the team and get given an extended shot cool, can't say i'm confident, but cool. it's more being taken on all these tours as the reserve batsman and frequently getting called into the team like from 2009-11. i really don't think that helped and would like to avoid that.

yeah that's a fair point. Obviously better if he's playing shield. The selectors will have to recognise that though.

Hey guys, why is it called "2nd unofficial Test"? Has there been some rule changes?

It's unofficial. They can call it the 9th unofficial collection of Martians if they like.
