harvey vs watson vs clarke

hey

from an indian who hasnt seen much of watson - not very impressed with what i've seen of him. i think harvey is a much better bet for the aussies. maybe watsons time will come - but right now, he doesnt look like he fits into intl cricket.

and i think dropping symonds is ridiculous. clarke shouldnt even be compared to watson - i think he's got a lot more potential than watson. this summer, the aussie batting hasnt been as consistent as the indians, and i think tey've gotta look at their middle oder, and if i was an aussie, i'd stick to clarke and symonds. coz martyn and bevan have been disappointing.

if u see symonds at the start of his innings, he looks like a number 11...even worse... he plays and misses, etc etc. sOO many times...it's only gonna take time for him 2 start getting those nicks and getting out for nothing

IMO he's had lots of luck, and that can't go on forever

that one innings in the WC was spectacular 2 say the least, but he hasn't LOOKED to be that good ever since

i konw he's got some runs but very unconvincingly........i wouldn't put 5 cents on him

I reckon that brett lee looks more solid than symonds

martyn and bevo have struggled.....but both r proven players...especially bevo..... the first change would b to move symonds down the order AT LEAST......martyn needs a good innings...i'd give him 2 or 3 more chances....and if he doesnt' succeed, drop him bak to the state level

but symonds should go first....he is a try-hard batsman in a middle order full of proper batsman

i don't think many of u would put money on him 2 save ur life if he was batting......he would b one of the last options imo.....i'd probably pick martyn over symonds, despite the from marto is in....and i don't like marto, just 4 the record

^ I agree. Martyn may be out of form, and I believe the few that think highly of him on this board do vastly overrate him... BUT I would much rather have Martyn in my middle order than Symonds, the same goes for Bevan. They may not be performing but in terms of pure batting, they are much better than Symonds and surely no one could argue otherwise. Yes Symonds is handy with the ball and I'm not disputing he is a versatile ODI player, but with the bat alone Martyn and Bevan are much safer bets.

That being said I think that India have a stronger middle order than Australia do.

Right now, Michael Clarke is batting at number 7, as does Adam Gilchrist in tests. What's your point?
When Watson was last in the Aussie side, Clarke wasn't, and Watson held the 7th batsman/filler in with the ball position.

Now Clarke is in that position, if Watson were to play, he'd be going in at 8.

That would extremely weaken the bowling line-up, making the side just 3 specialist bowlers - a tactic which will be nowhere near as effective as the current one.

Watson shouldn't be selected in to the one day side if he bats lower than 8 b'coz whatever little i have seen of him he is more of a solid batsman than a slogger. I mean he doesn't seem to be able to come to bat and attack the bowlers right away.Harvey is more suited to 8 than him. His bowling is now where near Harvey at present. He bowls like Lee is doing now but nowhere near Lee's pace. One more thing you have to take into notice is that the Indian batsman are playing very very well and so the competition will be less when they play others. Its like other teams playing Aus. A bowler against Aus would be happy if he gives less that 50 while it will be below 50 for others.I'm surprised to see really that the Aussies rate Watson that highly. He looked to me like a batsman who could bowl a bit.

This is the first time since 1983 when the West Indies lost to India that I have felt sorry for the losing team.

My heart gos out to the finest gentleman in Zimbabwe = HEATH STREAK , he came so close to winning against West Indies (test and ODI series) and India (both the ODIs) yet he lost.

Well Mr Streak all you gotta do now is thrash Bangladesh's brains out, yes I mean a whitewash. Put those Banglas where they belong at the bottom!

PS. As for Mr Very Very Special Laxman...fantastic 3 hundreds in 6 days, this guy is India's spine! fantastic performance by VVS, he was good at fielding also. Mr Yuvraj is improving by the minute..good for him too!
Zimbabawe deserved to win but India's experience saw her close the game..........well anyway its only sports.

once again Kudos to the finest gentleman in the whole of Zimbabwe, HEATH STREAK!!!!

North will be the next batsman to come through in OD for mine, Katich maybe in for bevan depending on form.

as for Symonds, well some of the comments about him batting like a nuumber 11 are well... stupid

Lol yes I found that interesting, and the article on cricinfo regarding that was quite humorous in the irony of some of the song selection.

Balaji using Delta Goodrem is hilarious though :D

VVS Laxman has already won Wisden Cricketer of the Year in either 2001 or 2002, so technically he cannot win it again.

Time to start guessing the winners then...

Ed Smith
Graeme Smith

Robin Smith, Dwayne Smith and Devon Smith?

Seriously, for the last three:

Makhaya Ntini
Ricky Ponting

And I'm now stuck as everyone else I can think of has won it already..
