Hafeez the super-specialist

Mohammad Hafeez bowls off-spin with the new ball against the England openers, usually takes a wicket and then reverts to being Pakistan's third spinner. 20 of his 26 test wickets have been left-handers, most of them top order batsmen.

Who are the other cricketers with a super-specialised, highly defined role like Hafeez?

My thoughts on Hafeez and specialisation in sport are on Declaration Game: Personalised medicine for England Declaration Game

Great read. Very well written. You could also call Cook a super specialist, since he is in charge of shining the ball.

Marsh is another super specialist. His only job is to get the crease ready for Punter.

Never in a million years would I have thought Brumby to admit this!!!!!!

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

I have always held hafeez responsible for pakistans t20 loss to India in the final - that dropped catch of the last ball - really stung me for some reason, but if he continues to open well I might just forgive him.

If I end up having to change the title of this thread to "Hafeez the super-specialist PAKISTANVINDIAT20S PAKISTANVINDIAT20S" I will dead set probably kill someone.

Well, I'm sure there are lot of players over the years who have specific roles in their respective sides. Its always a good sign for the team when these players perform their roles as well as Hafeez has.

Realist, is there any other place where you can go and moan about Pakistan losing a T20 or an ODI match in a world cup.

I don't think we can explain Ponting's return to form by him moving down the order. Would you put him back at 3?

I'd have Cowen at 3, when Watson gets back.
