In that video, the balls that seriously troubled Ponting are a good metre fuller than what he dished up in the test series just gone.

Was getting a lot of movement off the seam as well, don't see him get anything close to that nowadays.

Alot of it was through the air and it continuing on when it hits the pitch, which you have a chance of doing if you pitch it up.

He has shown absolutely no signs of improvement. I thought he was on his to becoming a decent bowler after the Windies series, but is back to Square 0.

I think the pitch has to do with it as well in this particular spell. It was windy as well which always helps swing the ball. Moreover, match situation is where Australia is chasing a big target and Ponting is on a defensive.

Was one of his four wickets for the series, wasn't it?
Haha yeah for all the talk about how "unlucky" he's been and how **** he's bowled (which is of course correct), it's not like he took many wickets first time 'round.

Every bowler, no matter how mediocre, will still be capable of producing a spell that troubles a batsman.

It hasn't gone particularly wrong for Ishant - he's just been hyped beyond belief as a result of that spell.

See also: Roach, Kemar.

Yeah he used to bowl big inswingers before he was picked for Tests - in fact he still bowled big inswingers on his debut against Pakistan. It wasn't until everyone told him he was going to be India's first great express bowler and that he had to be the enforcer that he lost that. He actually tried to bring it back into his game at one point by pitching the ball up more but he just bowled straight half volleys and got hammered.

Needs to have a chat to Craig McDermott.
