Does Virender Sehwag deserve to be called an ALL TIME GREAT?

IMHO, the most OVERRATED cricketer of all time.

Almost all batting legends never had any technical vulnerabilities. But Sehwag just SUCKS against decent swing/seam bowling.

Standing rooted at the crease and flailing the bat will get you runs in the subcontinent, but at the same time makes you a free wicket in swinging/seaming conditions.

And people should stop comparing him to Viv!!!. Viv dominated swing/seam bowling with ease.

His lack of footwork this series has been interesting to say the least. I've seen little footwork before, but absolutely none is certainly different to watch.

Depends on your definition of all time great really...
All time great batsman in terms of exciting, destructive and entertaining batsmanship? Yes
All time great against spin? Hell yes
All time great in subcontinent conditions? Yup
All time great Indian/ Asian batsman? Arguably in the top 10
Has he played any great innings? Yup, plenty, the Galle double hundred, his triples, the madcap 80 odd in that great runchase against England was special too

All time great test batsman? Hmmm, not quite, but lets just say he's overrated by the general public, and underrated on the internet. He's still an asset to the team, he just cant adapt to all conditions, which is not something everyone can do

yes he is but he is possibly in the bottom tier of ATG's along with the likes of Mahela, Yusuf andKP.

Operating on a presumption that he's ever been considered an ATG.

I said it somewhere else, but it's awesome to watch him when he's not playing against you, but when he is its just frustrating. His recent failures against Australia haven't elicited any sympathy.

Yeah, his footwork seems to have reduced even more since he came back from Inury in recent times and he was struggling even at home.

He isn't in form and probably coming back from Injury clearly undercooked in England has contributed quite some.

If the global rise in bowling standards translates to harder runz in the SC (it might!) he's barreling towards a <50 average.

Just before the tour to Australia he made a 200 in a one day game. Was clearly striking the ball well.

Seen alot of really promising pace bowlers coming through the ranks lately, not so much with spinners though.

There hasn't been a big difference in his footwork, IMO, think he's just been leaning back on the ball more than usual, his balance has been off.
