Your current Indian selection largely on fielding and athleticism

Jono

He was clearly talking about ground fielding though. Sehwag and Sachin's catching has never been questioned as far as I know.

He said playing 3 of Sehwag, Gambhir and Sachin will cost India 20 runs in the field.

I know they're not quite the best of ground fielders, but they'd still make India's top XI fielding side, wouldn't they? At least India's top XI practical fielding side. They'd give many of India's younger players a run for their money on the field.

Even then, you will have one of your top bowlers/all-rounders poor on the field. Ashwin and Umesh are prime examples. How much can the team afford to carry these strugglers just to have a fuller selection? While Dhoni's laughable field placings leave them in wide open spaces alone for batsmen to exploit, since they may be just two in a team of eleven, they can be brought up to average, at the very least. They (or at least Ashwin) offer tremendous advantage, be it raw pace or balance, only to be offset by poor fielding.

Who will make the grade this time around? Rahane and Mukund open the innings for India, easily. Kohli makes it at three, poor form notwithstanding. Pujara easily makes it at four, form being on his side often. For experience, you can choose between Kaif, Badrinath and Manhas. Bhuv Kumar will be the opening bowler and number seven. Abdulla, dropped once for dropping a catch, can be the leading spinner, and he's as capable a batsman as Ashwin. Umesh and Shami are so far the best fielders we've seen, who can also bowl seam-up. Spinners who are very good on the field are hard to find in India, so you may have to settle with Amit Mishra.
