I don't know about first innings scores but this series is definitely up there as one of the most dissapointing. Probably not as bad as the Bangladesh one but our team looked promising a month ago and now we've been reduced to this.

Batting First against quality opposition
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...ults;type=team Batting Second against quality opposition http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...ults;type=team New Zealand and the West Indies are the only teams in the top 8 that actually improve their run-rates when batting second. Alarmingly, New Zealand jump from 4.97 to 5.33.

This is where we want an old Eden Park pitch with no bounce that's low and slow IMO. They don't produce the best cricket, but they would give us the best chance of beating SA with our medium pacers and slow bowlers.
Why produce these hard pitches with good bounce. It's just playing into their hands I tend to think.

Was given the gig for the first time for his franchise in our domestic one-day cup this year and got a hundred. Otherwise doubt anything else.
Technically correct, has the capability to maybe bat as high as 6 one day in the longer form. |
