That Nicol inning may well have cost us the match unless we bat well from here. he has dug a hole for us and now he has given away his wicket without accelerating to make up for his slow start.

Could see Parnell open the batting later.

Nicol very much hit and miss for me, no test player. It might be a baptism of fire but I would be looking at a young gun like Tom Latham even if he hasn't done much domestically yet.

Surprising to see both teams going into the match with very few batsmen and a whole set of allrounders (mostly bowling allrounders). Even before the match, we can predict that it would be low scoring.
