Test: Clarke - Epic batting on a pitch where everyone was getting out. Junaid - I'm biased, plus he's new and did it on a flat pitch. ODI: Kevin - Great performance against England, and fun to watch. Wahab - Loved the pace and the yorker that removed Yuvraj. |

Test Batting - Michael Clarke
Test Bowling - Stuart Broad ODI Batting - Andrew Strauss ODI Bowling - Wahab Riaz If not for that brilliant Clarke century, I would have surely voted for Sachin's 146 against Steyn. Takes a special knock to move Sachin to number 2 and Clarke's was a special knock. Broad against India was epic. I actually thought India was well on its way for a comeback win in that series when Broad let it rip. From 267/4 to 288 all out. Watched the whole of that Strauss knock and he made India look helpless all through. A classy innings and worthy of being the best ODI knock in 2011. WC semi-final, the mother of all epic matches and he comes up with a brilliant spell. |

ESPN cricinfo awards 2011
Mixed feelings about Tendulkar's cape town knock winning the best test match batting award. Clarke's was better imo. Tendulkars knock was streakier, and he clearly nicked it and should have been out on 48.

Clarke's knock was excellent but far from chanceless, I remember Steyn making him look like a bit of a muppet early on.

Don't really have a problem with Tendulkar's 146 getting it. Do think the 151 was better but we're comparing two seriously high-quality innings here.

I thought Clarke's knock was one of the best in recent times. He came in with the score at nothing, plenty of wickets down, against a world class bowling attack, and in very good bowling conditions, yet still managed to score 150-odd at close to a run a ball. He managed to score more runs than the entire second and third team innings combined. The only thing it lacked was that his team lost (no thanks to the ineptitude of the other batsmen, which is hardly his fault).

Preaching to the choir etc.
Honestly though, I don't think this will matter to anyone, really. Those who saw Clarke's knock and rate it higher aren't about to change their minds based on this (and the people's choice poll... hahaha) Last edited by Spark; 20-02-2012 at 02:15 AM. |

Yea clearly, they need upstanding fair minded people like you to educate them about cricket and voting without home-team bias.
